The April 8 West Delaware school board meeting began with a public hearing on the fiscal year 2025 budget.

“This is a new process. We have to have two public hearings. This is the first one we published after our last meeting when we talked about planning for the worst because we didn’t know, so we set our budget at 0% SSA. That has since come in signed by the governor at 2.5%. We will have discussions tonight on what that looks like and how the board wants to shift our taxes based on that. This is the first of two public hearings so nothing will be voted on or set in stone yet. We’ll have a second one based on conversations today at the end of the month,” Director of Finance Lynette Engel said.
