SNAP Health Center V4.6.2 and SNAP Health Portal V1.5 Releases Provide Needed Updates as well as COVID-19 Screening and Reporting Functionality to US Schools/Districts

AMHERST, NH – August 10, 2020 – PSNI today announced the general availability of two new product releases: SNAP Health Center Version 4.6.2 and SNAP Health Portal Version 1.5. In addition to vital new functionality and updates based on customer input, PSNI has been able to quickly respond to the need for COVID-19 screenings and reporting by parents and by school district staff. SNAP Health Portal V1.5 contains specific COVID-19 screening functionality that parents and school staff can utilize from home and SNAP Health Center V4.6.2 has been enhanced with COVID-19 screening alerts, reporting, and data analytics.

PSNI has been the leading provider of school nurse EHR systems for almost 30 years, serving over 10,000 school nurses in 45 states and 25 countries. Designed by a school nurse, SNAP Health Center originally received pandemic screening tracking and reporting features during the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic in 2009.

“Nationwide, schools have been building their re-opening plans but it wasn’t until just the last few weeks that it became apparent that there would be a reliance on at-home screening and reporting by parents and school staff,” said Peter Redes, PSNI CEO. “This summer, we surveyed over 1,200 school nurses to see what school districts needed. With the release of these products scheduled before the start of school, we were able to respond quickly and include the COVID-19 screening and reporting functionality that schools need.”

In a survey of PSNI customers earlier this summer, 42% reported that their districts will require daily student screenings with 41% undecided. In the same survey, 50% will require daily staff screenings with 36% undecided. In both cases, PSNI expects the majority of schools to ultimately decide to require daily screenings of both students and staff when school buildings re-open.

In addition to the COVID-19 screening functionality, SNAP Health Portal V1.5 is a completely new version of the portal which has a new interface based on customer feedback that enhances usability and adds consistency throughout. The portal is fully reactive and automatically adjusts to any device allowing parents and staff to utilize workstations, tablets, and smart phones to access its information and features. It has also been upgraded to full WCAG 2.0 compliance to make SNAP Health Portal more accessible to people with disabilities.

SNAP Health Center V4.6.2 is an incremental release. Besides the COVID-19 data analysis, alerts, and reporting functionality, the product is outfitted with usability improvements based on customer input as well as some key additional functionality and reporting.

Redes commented on the impact of COVID-19 to the company’s customers, “COVID-19 is the biggest health challenge our customers have ever faced. They’ve had a short time to react and plan.” He explains PSNI’s ability to react so quickly. “We were founded by a school nurse and we employ RNs in our company. They think about these types of situations – they see the need for schools to be able to react. That’s why we built in this type of functionality in 2009 during the swine flu pandemic. When our customers need the right tools for COVID-19, we delivered. I’m proud of our company and happy we could deliver this vital functionality to our customers.”
