Nominated by Sarah Nygren
I am honored to nominate Brandi Bronniman for the esteemed title of Nurse of the Year. In my time working alongside her, she has consistently demonstrated the highest level of care, compassion, and professionalism. Brandi is not only a skilled clinician, but also a dedicated leader in driving quality improvement initiatives that have positively impacted student outcomes and the overall effectiveness of our team. Brandi's dedication to improving student care is evident in the innovative quality improvement projects she has championed. One standout example is a getting an Omnipod established for an uncontrolled type 1 diabetic, where Brandi worked collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to address this student's uncontrolled blood sugar levels. Through her initiative, there was a measurable improvement in this student’s daily blood sugar levels as well as his A1C. Brandi was able to help this 8-year-old, and his parents feel more confident in managing his chronic condition. What sets Brandi apart is her ability to approach challenges with both a data-driven and compassionate mindset. She is not only focused on clinical excellence but is also deeply committed to creating systems and processes that make care more efficient and effective for students and staff alike. Whether it's developing new protocols, streamlining workflows, or educating peers on best practices, Brandi constantly seeks ways to improve the quality of care we provide. These qualities have been crucial in Brandi’s career with her opening 2 new schools as the school nurse. Beyond her work in quality improvement, Brandi is a natural collaborator. She actively engages with colleagues from all departments to ensure that everyone has the tools and knowledge to contribute to these improvement efforts. Brandi’s leadership fosters an environment where feedback is encouraged, and everyone works together to achieve our common goal of excellent student care. What makes Brandi such an outstanding mentor and lead nurse, is her ability to adapt to everyone's learning style, offering personalized support and constructive feedback. She takes the time to understand each nurse’s strengths and areas for growth, then works with them to build confidence and skills. As a result, our team has become more cohesive, skilled, and motivated, which directly benefits our students and overall care. Beyond mentorship and quality improvement, Brandi’s leadership extends to ensuring that our team feels supported and valued. She led by example, fostering a collaborative environment where every voice is heard. This approach not only improves student care but also enhances team morale and job satisfaction, creating a positive work culture that everyone can contribute to and benefit from. For these reasons, and countless others, I wholeheartedly believe that Brandi is an exceptional candidate for Nurse of the Year. She exemplifies the qualities of a nurse who is not only skilled and compassionate but also a true champion of continuous improvement in healthcare delivery in the public setting. Brandi’s dedication to enhancing both the student experience and the quality of care is a testament to the profound impact she has had on our team and students. Thank you for considering this nomination.
