What makes Samantha Paone truly exceptional is the way she leads the program supporting our medically complex students, the most complex in our district. She ensures that each child receives the care, equipment, and support they need to thrive in the school setting—not just physically, but emotionally and socially as well. Her organizational skills are remarkable; she anticipates needs before they arise, coordinates seamlessly with outside providers, and keeps detailed, thorough plans that ensure no child falls through the cracks. Beyond logistics, Sam brings a warmth and humanity to every interaction. She communicates with families in a way that is both clear and compassionate, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and reassured. Her collaboration with staff is equally strong—she is approachable, responsive, and always willing to educate and support teachers in understanding the medical needs of their students. Most recently, she has taken on the enormous task of transitioning her program to a new location, a move that could have been overwhelming given the complexity of the students and services involved. Instead, she approached it with calm, thoughtful planning and adaptability. Even amid the inevitable chaos, she remained student-centered, ensuring continuity of care and supporting everyone around her with grace. Sam does more than her job; she advocates, she leads, and she uplifts. Our school community is better because of her presence, and I can think of no one more deserving of recognition.
