Katie Martin’s been a school nurse for 16 years. She willingly mentors school nurses and precepts student nurses every year. She is an active member and leader of her school's wellness committee and also actively serves on the district-wide School Wellness Advisory Committee. She's committed to the health and wellness of the school community and contributes much time and energy to the topic. Katie is also a CPR instructor. She teaches staff classes at her school and also teaches staff district-wide. She recently became trained in Stop-the-Bleed and will begin teaching the program to staff this year. Katie ensures all students with life-threatening allergies are safe in school at all times. She prides herself in teaching multiple staff in epinephrine training. Katie’s currently enrolled in a DNP program at Regis college. She anticipates completing her degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing in 2026. Overall, Katie demonstrates exemplary performance in her daily practice and is well-deserving of this nomination.
