There are multiple qualities that define Elana and make her worthy of being recognized as a superstar. Skill - her nursing skills, particularly skills associated with children and the school nursing environment are superior, both her academic skill and her experience. She can be trusted to provide good and appropriate care and comply with all rules and regulations. Commitment to the Children and Their Parents- All you have to do is listen and observe her to know she has a genuine love for the children and respect for their parents. The flocks of children that ‘want to go see the Nurse’, the way the children look up to her and just want to be around her shows they feel this genuine love and support. Work Ethic - Elana has strong work ethic, showing up and executing her job with vigor, energy, and consistency. She can be counted on by the administrative staff, children and parents alike. More Than a Nurse - She does much more than just nursing, giving comfort and providing a role model for these young souls. She considers the parents in all of her actions, communicating and coordinating all matters well, thoroughly and professionally. Innovative - Elana is a mindful executor of her duties, always assessing the process of school nursing and seeking innovative solutions to make the process more efficient and effective. For example, she has developed new processes and software systems to efficiently manage the as administering of medications to the children from end-to-end, simplifying and securing this important and vital function. I could go on, but I think this summarizes her superstar qualities that make a huge difference to the school system, the parents, and the children. Thank you, Mike Fatig
