Description

We are seeking a proactive and eager Junior IT Specialist to join our PSNI team. The Junior IT Specialist will assist in providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining our organization's IT infrastructure. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for technology to gain valuable experience and grow within the IT field.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Provide technical support to end-users regarding hardware, software,
  network, and other IT-related issues. Assist users in troubleshooting problems and provide
  timely resolution or escalate issues when necessary.
• System Administration: Assist in maintaining and configuring computer systems, networks,
  servers, and other IT infrastructure components. Perform routine system maintenance tasks
  such as software updates, patches, and backups.
•  Hardware and Software Setup: Assist in setting up and installing hardware devices (e.g.,
  desktops, laptops, printers) and software applications. Ensure proper configuration and
  functionality of all IT equipment.
• User Account Management: Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls
  across various systems and applications. Ensure compliance with security policies and
  procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, procedures, and
  configurations. Document solutions to common technical issues for reference purposes.
• Other responsibilities/duties as assigned.
  Skills
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
•  Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• And most importantly, a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.

Requirements

•  2 years’ experience in Help Desk or equivalent position
•  2 years’ experience with maintaining and managing network equipment
• 2 years’ experience with Powershell or other scripting language
•  2 years’ experience with Active Directory administration
• Proficiency with Windows 10/11 and Windows Server Operating Systems
• Minimum lifting ability of 30 pounds; may require heavy lifting of 50+ pounds with assistance of
  team members and/or equipment
  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields preferred or 2years of
  equivalent work experience
• Certifications in A+, CNE, CCNA are a plus but not required
